GLENMORE, an opulent Victorian Mansion, saturated with Southern charm & history is located in the sleepy little town of Jefferson City, Tennessee.

The home was completed in 1869 by Colonel John Roper Branner in Mossy Creek, Tennessee (later renamed Jefferson City in 1901.)This great home was first named The Oaks by Branner. It is built on land where, during the Civil War, the Battle of Mossy Creek was fought. Upon Colonel Branner’s death in 1869, Deborah Branner (widow), and Joseph Branner (his brother), established the Branner Institute for Young Ladies (a boarding and day school for young ladies) from 1876-1879. In 1882, the mansion was sold to Judge Milton Preston Jarnagin, the second & final owner, who renamed the home Glenmore in homage of a son who died in infancy. The Jarnagin descendants lived at Glenmore until 1969 when the remaining twelve heirs deeded the home to the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities (APTA). APTA is an organization that is dedicated to preserving this wonderful piece of Tennessee history. Glenore is perfectly preserved in its beauty and Southern traditions for hospitality, in order to know what is important for the future.
